WOW! You have made a smart choice and a worthy investment by having an implant-based. It is great for your oral health and appearance, and makes you confident when you smile and talk now.
However, it is essential to follow these post-operative Instructions for the Implant Crown. If not taken care of properly, it can develop gum disease and other dental issues.
Post Operative Instructions for Implant Crown:
● As mentioned above, hygiene is important. So, you can use a soft-bristle toothbrush with a small head so it can easily reach implants and gums. Either you can use a manual or a smart toothbrush. If you are going with a smart toothbrush, we recommend Philips Sonicare for gentle brushing..
● It's better to use non-abrasive toothpaste (that does not contain particles like baking soda or calcium carbonate). These toothpastes are good in general ways to scrub stains, but not for now.
● Use unwaxed floss to clean between your teeth. Also, try a water flosser, like a Waterpik with a Plaque Seeker tip. It will clean teeth and implants. Furthermore, A water flosser is also helpful in fighting bacteria, keeping oral health on point.
● Maintain regular cleanings and check-ups at our clinic. It will keep your teeth healthy, never allow for bacteria to build up, and visiting us regularly will allow us to see if everything is on point.
Avoid
● Eating hard foods or chewing ice, and using your teeth as a tool to open ot tear items. This might damage your implanted crown, just as it can break your natural tooth.
● Using a metal pick or toothpicks around your implant. This can severely damage your implant.
Call Us If:
● Use a salt-water mixture to rinse your mouth 3 to 4 times a day if you experience slight bleeding or inflammation around your gum tissues. If this does not resolve in a few days, then contact our office.
● Excessive bleeding or swelling around your implant should be immediately reported.
● If you feel any movement in your tooth, it is necessary to notify us. To prevent it from being loose, we will take good care while tightening the implant screw. But, it happens in very cases that implants get loose.
