After your surgery at HQ Dental Design, it is recommended that you follow these Post operative instructions For temporary bridges. These are temporary, but designed to function like natural teeth and are intended to last for a month or two until your permanent bridges are ready. Here are a few practices you must follow during this period.

Post Operative Instructions For Temporary Bridges

  • ● Until your permanent ones are getting ready, stick to the soft foods, which can include mashed potatoes, sandwiches, bananas, or anything that does not require pressure to the teeth. Biting into hard and sticky food can put more pressure and increase the risk of loosening or weakening the bridges, which can be problematic.

  • ● Brush your teeth with a soft toothbrush, being careful around the surgical site and the gum line. But, avoid flossing as the temp bridge is joined together to keep in place. So, flossing is a no-no during this duration. But, keeping it clean with the soft tooth brush or using alcohol free mouthwash (after the approval of a dentist) to keep the area clean.

  • ● If a bridge comes out, don't panic. Even if it's a weekend, first, look if the bridge is in one place or not. If it's still in one piece, place a little Vaseline inside, and gently put it back on your teeth. If it's not in one place and broken. Still don't panic. As they are protected with a layer of dental cement, they might feel sensitive. It is fine to stay uncovered during the weekend and visit us on Monday, and we will have a look at it. But make sure to save any broken pieces and bring them with you.

  • ● It is common to have pain/discomfort in the teeth and gums after the surgery. We will prescribe painkillers during this period that can include Tylenol or Advil if its okay with you. But make sure to eat something before taking medicines. Also, these discomforts should start subsiding after 2 days.
