From tomorrow (after 24 hours of surgery), remove the dentures twice a day as guided by the dentist and wash the whole mouth with salt water. The method is simple to make.
Simply, put 1 teaspoon of salt in a glass of water and rinse the mouth with it. Additionally, clean the dentures using either toothpaste or a denture cleaner, then rinse them well with water.
wear it right after cleaning, as swelling may make it difficult to put them back in later. Depending on the condition, the dentist will tell when you can take the dentures out before sleeping and keep them in water. Generally, you can do this after a week.
Getting several teeth removed at once is different from removing just one or two. This is because the bone needs to be shaped and smoothed before the denture can fit properly. As a result, you may notice the following things:
After getting immediate dentures, it’s normal to notice some changes in your daily life, especially during the first few weeks. You may experience sore spots, a bite that doesn’t feel right, more saliva, or difficulty speaking. These are common issues and will improve as your mouth adjusts and your dentist makes the necessary adjustments to help your dentures fit comfortably. We will schedule a follow-up check-up within 24 to 48 hours to make the adjustments.
Take medicines as prescribed by the dentist. This will help in preventing pain and infection. But, expect mild pain and discomfort even after eating medicines on the right time. Also, dont have them on an empty stomach, eat something before to avoid nausea. Furthermore, if you are having symptoms like rashes, it means you might be allergic to these medicines. So, stop talking them. Visit us and will prescribe other medicines.
Even if you have replaced your teeth with dentures, it is recommended to stick to a soft diet till the healing process is complete and further adjustments are made. During this tenure, have a soft but nutritious food and drink a good amount of water.
To prevent nausea, you can have a little amount of a fizzy drink. Also, you can take mild tea or clear soup, followed by light foods like toast or crackers. Besides food, you can take OTC medicine like Dramamine to get rid of nausea. But if it's still there, contact our office.
